We bring you the worst of worst scenarios a fire fighter could encounter and teach it in the safest possible way. Classroom portion reviews fire behavior, basic fire dynamics with emphasis on modern construction vs. legacy fires as well as discussing cancer and the importance of decon. The practical portion will subject fire fighters to controlled and repeated flashovers so they can learn the warning signs of a flashover, experience how ventilation affects fire behavior and how thermal imaging cameras can make a huge difference, all while getting to feel some heat without damaging their gear!
Confined space. Entrapment. Air management. Self escape. Breaking mental road blocks and barriers that could turn a simple situation into one with dire consequences if fire fighters are not trained properly. When it comes to mental fortitude, this is the station that will create it. Looking at the research and seeing that the vast majority of fire fighters who perish in fires were on a hose line with the nozzle closed tells us that we need to focus on making sure fire fighters can make life saving decisions when seconds count.
With an increasing number of drivers on the roadways, it is imperitive that fire fighters be comfortable using the tools they have available to perform an auto rescue. Experience with everything from hand tools to hydraulic to battery powered tools can help departments decide what level of tools are right for them.
This 96 hour course covers basic theory and practical training for anyone who is new to the fire service. Designed for applicants who are interested in becoming firefighters in their communities.
This is the complete NFPA 1001 Level I firefighter training course. Approximately 200 hours of theory and practical components, this competence focused training is dedicated to delivering more than a certificate.
Building on the Level I training, this course adds all the necessary components to become a certified Level II firefighter.
This course is designed for those personnel (fire, police, EMS) who may be first on the scene of a hazardous materials emergency.
Designed for everyone who may need to operate a fire extinguisher.
Not only is this course important for everyone, it is also a requirement for firefighters. Knowing what to do when seconds count will make you a benefit to those around you and your community.
Understanding the responsibilities and expectations of the fire department is critical, especially when there are legal obligations that need to be met. This seminar covers the Acts, Regulations and Standards that govern the operation of fire departments, including the Fire Chief position.
Understanding the second leading cause of fire fighter fatalities is crucial, especially since the actions you take today will affect you in months or years to come. In this seminar, we cover the latest research on cancer among fire fighters, decon/fire fighter hygiene initiatives, strategies and changes from the NFPA, sample gross decon SOP will be provided and attendees will receive a PPE decon bag from Fire Dex.
Standard firefighter training only scratches the surface on what goes into the manufacturing of turn out gear and SCBAs. The NFPA has outlined many different standards for PPE but considering the the leading cause of line of duty deaths for firefighters is related to cardiac events from overheating and overexertion, it's time we looked at the role our gear plays. When it comes to deciding what gear to wear, being aware of the TPP and THL ratings are crucial, just as innovations and design enhancements to reduce fatigue are. If you would like to know more about how to keep yourself and/or fellow firefighters safe, this is a great place to start!
Focused on filling in the blanks and answering the questions of anyone who needs an air brake endorsement on their drivers license.
Thermal imaging cameras are undoubtedly an excellent tool for fire fighters but do you know how to operate yours to its full potential? Do you know what conditions limit the use of the camera and what options are available for your department. This seminar focuses on how the thermal imaging cameras work, their benefits and limitations and also the differences between manufacturers. Whether your department bought one for HAZMAT, searching for fires or for overhaul, there are some key pieces of information you should know.
Have you ever responded to a 'funny smell' call and been told to take the gas monitor and 'go check it out'? Not understanding how a gas detector works is the driving force behind this seminar. Not operating a gas detector properly could mean a false 'all clear' signal being given, resulting in people getting sick or critically injured. If your department does not have a clear SOP that outlines all the steps required from 1. Turning the unit on all the way to a confirmed 'all clear', you should call us.
This seminar provides support for anyone who needs to complete the independent study course for incident command system 100.
